Evo-Stik Southern League West side Bideford AFC gave a good account of themselves before going down 3-1 at home to League Two neighbours Exeter City on Tuesday night.

 

It was two late goals from Josh Key that gave the Grecians victory after former Biddy loanee, Ben Seymour had won and converted a penalty.

 

James Mayne replied for the hosts.

 

Alex Troke was on target for Southern League Central side Bedworth United, who were beaten 3-1 at the Oval by Coventry City`s mainly under-23s.

 

Northern Premier League newcomers Basford United went down 3-1 at home to League Two Notts County.

 

All three of County`s goals came before the break, Jon Stead converting a penalty before latching on to a looping ball over the top to finish in composed fashion.

 

Young Magpies midfielder Dongda scored a deserved goal shortly before the break.

 

Basford bagged a late consolation through summer signing from Kettering Town, Liam Bateman.

 

Basford`s new league rivals Bamber Bridge were beaten 2-1 at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium by League Two Morecambe.

 

Kevin Ellison opened the Shrimps scoring with a 25-yard free-kick and Adam Campbell doubled their lead just after the break with a fine 20-yard effort.

 

Bamber Bridge pulled one back 3 minutes later from the penalty spot through Regan Linney.

 

Southern League South side Basingstoke Town won 7-0 at Sydenhams Football (Wessex) outfit Alton Town.

 

George Bennett bagged a brace, Sam Argent, Dan Collier, Harry Philby, Callum Bunting from the spot and triallist Ethan Burden were the `Stoke marksmen.

 

Gainsborough Trinity, relegated to the Northern Premier League, ran out 3-1 winners at Northern Counties East side Selby Town.

 

Elliot Wilson, Liam King and Damian Reeves scored the Trinity goals.

 

Bostik Premier side Lewes scored through Marcus Elliott and Omarr Lawson in a 2-0 win against Southern Combination outfit Lancing side at Culver Road.

 

Lewes` new league rivals Margate won 3-1 at Bostik South East newcomers Sevenoaks Town.

 

First half goals from Kofe Boateng and Joe Taylor were followed by a second half penalty from Frannie Collin for Gate.

 

Goals from Lee Chaffey and Marcus Hall gave Bostik North side Soham Town Rangers a good 2-1 win at Southern League Central St Ives Town, whose goal came from triallist Dylan Wilson.

 

Southern League South side Kings Langley shared a 1-1 draw at Bostik Premier Wingate & Finchley.

 

Sean Cronin scored for Wingate.

 

United Counties League Premier Division side Wellingborough Town were beaten 5-2 at the Dog & Duck by a youthful but impressive Leyton Orient outfit.

 

Adam Speight and a spectacular Adam Randall effort were the Doughboys` scorers.

 

Northern Premier League East side Stamford AFC progressed in the Lincolnshire County Cup by beating NPL Premier outfit Grantham Town 4-1 at the Zeeco Stadium to set up a tie with Gainsborough Trinity in the next round.

 

Goals from Taron Hare, Eliot Putman, Jon Challinor and a Michael Hollingsworth own goal cancelled out a George Couzens effort for the Gingerbreads.

 

Another NPL East outfit, Cleethorpes Town, caused an upset in the same competition though, beating League One Scunthorpe United 2-1.

 

Danny North and Brody Robertson were the Owls` scorers after Joe Busby had given the Iron a first half lead.

 

Cleethorpes`s league rivals Peterborough Sports took a bit of a home battering by SkyBet League One neighbours Peterborough United.

 

Posh ran out 9-0 winners with Siriki Demebele bagging an impressive brace.

 

Southern League South side Hartley Wintney were 7-1 home winners over Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Division One outfit Frimley Green.

 

Luke Perkins and Nic Ciardini bagged braces, Josh Webb, Jaydon Englefield and Jake Baxter singles for The Row.

 

Cambs Kershaw Premier Division outfit Chatteris Town came from behind to beat Thurlow Nunn League Division One side March Town United with goals from Jack Jefferson and Jack Saunders. To retain the Bill Salisbury Memorial Cup.

 

Goals from Josh Oyinsan and a triallist sealed a good 2-0 win for Bostik South East side Ashford United at the Homelands against Bostik Premier Leatherhead.

 

Southern League East side Aylesbury FC had goals from Ryan Ware, Ryan Coyle and Kyle Johnson to beat a talented Oxford United scholars side.

 

The Moles` league rivals Cambridge City were hammered 8-1 by League Two neighbours Cambridge United.

 

Ryan Sharman scored for City.

 

Southern Division One Central outfit Northwood got took on Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East side Burnham at Bisham Abbey and came away with a 4-0 victory.

 

Ben Pattie, Jon Munday, James Ewington and a triallist were the Woods on the mark.

 

Southern Premier Central side Biggleswade Town shared a goalless draw at Thurlow Nunn League Haverhill Rovers.

 

Toolstation Northern Counties East Leaguers Hallam put up a brace showing in going down 2-1 to Championship neighbours Sheffield Wednesday, whose goals came from Sam Smart and Preslav Borukov - Jamie Damms for the hosts.
