Carl Mensah (pictured) has re-joined the Citizens.

The 24-year-old centre-back originally joined City from Colney Heath in 2015.

He returned after a brief spell with Cockfosters in 2017 and then signed for Spartan South Midlands League Premier side Tring Athletic in the summer of 2018.

He re-joined Welwyn in June 2019 and then switched to league rivals Kempston Rovers in January 2020 but quickly moved onto neighbours Bedford Town at the end of the month.

Ironton further strengthened his defensive ranks with the signing of full-back or central defender Malcolm Podier from Isthmian League Premier Division side Enfield Town.

Podier, 25, has also played with Northwood in the Isthmian South Central and played in the Northern Premier League for Nottingham-based clubs Basford United and Carlton Town, while studying at Nottingham Trent University

Ironton has also added two wingers to his squad.

Former Stevenage academy prospect Robbie Buchanan joins the Citizens having played for Spartan South Midlands League Division One outfit Stotfold.

He has previously played with Baldock Town and Biggleswade Town.

Fellow winger Patrick Tshikala began his career with Vanarama National League South side St Albans City and also had a spell with Southern Premier Division Central outfit Hitchin Town.

Tshikala spent last season with Isthmian League South Central side Hertford Town.
