Premier
Division South side Hendon beat SkyBet Championship Brentford`s B team in the
delayed final of the London Senior Cup at Hanwell Town on Monday night.
It
was a very notable success for Lee Allinson`s men against a Bees outfit
containing one or two first team players, including goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe,
as well as a couple of triallists.
The
Greens more than held their own in a game which saw Brentford having more of
the ball, but Hendon posing more of a threat going forward.
It
finished 0-0 after 90 minutes and, unusually these days, it went to extra-time.
And
with 9 minutes of the extra 30 minutes left to play, it was Hendon who broke
the deadlock when Dwade James was brought down by Kane O`Connor in the box and
Shaun Lucien stepped up to beat Balcombe from 12 yards.
Hendon
held on, despite Brentford having a golden chance right at the death when a
corner was swung in and Aaron Pressley, Tristan Crama and keeper Balcombe all
threw themselves at the ball but it nestled wide as Allinson`s men held out. |
