Wardle was a key member of the squad who secured a stay in the NPL with a run of 28 consecutive starts in which he scored 3 goals having joined in November.

He came to the club from Skem`s league rivals Kendal Town, having previously had a spell with Lancaster City, who he will likely re-unite with this season.

He ended the season with around 150 career appearances and scooped the managers` player of the year award.

Skelmersdale manager Dave Powell told his club`s website: “I am sorry to see Josh leave the club, he was a key member of our defence last season but rather than look at the negatives of a player departing, it gives an opportunity for other players to step up into the role”.
