The
young keeper (pictured), who spent time on loan with Boro`s rivals South Shields last
season, has been with York for five years and is a lifelong supporter of the
club.
Whitley
secured his first professional contract when signing a two-year deal in August
2017 after progressing through the academy.

"Ryan
is a hugely promising young goalkeeper who I know very well as myself and
Michael Ingham brought him into the York City academy a number of years
ago," said Kelly.
"He
is a very good young goalkeeper who will strengthen us a great deal.
Kelly
has also recruited Dylan Cogill on dual registration with National League North
side Farsley Celtic.
The
centre-back, who joined Farsley from Scottish side Clyde in October of last
year, began his career with Huddersfield Town. |
