The young keeper (pictured), who spent time on loan with Boro`s rivals South Shields last season, has been with York for five years and is a lifelong supporter of the club.

Whitley secured his first professional contract when signing a two-year deal in August 2017 after progressing through the academy.

Manager Darren Kelly told http://www.scarboroughathletic.com/

"Ryan is a hugely promising young goalkeeper who I know very well as myself and Michael Ingham brought him into the York City academy a number of years ago," said Kelly.

"He is a very good young goalkeeper who will strengthen us a great deal.

Kelly has also recruited Dylan Cogill on dual registration with National League North side Farsley Celtic.

The centre-back, who joined Farsley from Scottish side Clyde in October of last year, began his career with Huddersfield Town.
