He
has signed versatile 20-year-old defender Alex Downes from JD Cymru North side
Colwyn Bay.
Downes
is a graduate of the Chester academy, and already has experience of Northern
Premier League football through loan spells at Ramsbottom United as well as Colwyn
Bay.
He
subsequently joined the Seagulls on a permanent basis and his performances in
the shortened 2019/20 season prompted the award of their supporters` player of
the year trophy.
McIntyre
has also added Carl Spellman to his squad.
Spellman (pictured) is a 19-year-old defender or defensive midfielder who was previously on the
books of SkyBet League Two side Tranmere Rovers where he signed professional
forms on completing his scholarship.
He
made 3 first-team appearances for the Prenton Park outfit, having played for
them at under-18s level.
His
senior debut came in central midfield in Rovers' National League game at
Solihull Moors in April 2018.
He
had two EFL Cup outings for the then League One (now League Two) club last
season.
A
midfield start in Rovers' 3-2 second-round victory over Manchester United under-23s
was followed by an appearance at centre-back in a 2-1 loss to visiting
Leicester City under-23s.
He
has also been on the bench for 6 league games (7 times in all) over the last
couple of seasons. |
