Taylor,
who enjoyed a successful 17-year career in the English top-flight, scoring 42
goals in his 350 competitive appearances, joins Colne on an agreement until the
end of the season.
The
now 36-year-old former England under-21 international started his career with
Tranmere Rovers.
He
went on to play over 100 times for Rovers, chipping in with 14 goals, before
transferring to Wigan Athletic in July 2005 for £750,000.
He
made 56 appearances for the Latics before making the move to Newcastle United
in a part
exchange deal involving Charles N'Zogbia.
He
played over 100 times for the Magpies before going on to have short spells with
Hull City, Port Vale and then Indian side ATK in December 2017.
Taylor
signed for Fleetwood Town in September 2018 after he left the Indian champions.
