Ranger
started his career with Crystal Palace and then Southampton`s youth teams before
moving north to join Newcastle United in 2009.
He
went on to play 51 times for the Magpies, scoring 2 goals, as well as having
loan spells with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.
In
2013 he joined Swindon Town and made 23 appearances and scored 8 times.
He
went on to turn out for Blackpool and Southend United before his contract with
the latter was terminated in January 2018 because of "recurring
disciplinary issues" – the still only 29-year-old being in trouble off the
field on several occasions over the years.
New
Spalding boss Gab Zakuani said: “I’ve known Nile for many years. We grew up in
the same area. He has all the talent in the world and knows he has a point to
prove! In the conversations we have had, he wants an opportunity to get himself
back on the map.
“I
believe he can easily play for any team in League One and most Championship
clubs. He has promised me he will get his head down and prove to everyone that
the penny has dropped. This opportunity will allow people to see he still has
the hunger to succeed”. |
