A review of some of Friday night`s friendly action....

Courtney Richards' goal was enough to see Vanarama National League North side Brackley Town snatch a 1-0 win over SkyBet League Two outfit MK Dons on a muggy Friday night.

 

It was a shock start for Paul Tisdale's side as they fell behind after just 3 minutes to their Buildbase FA Trophy-winning hosts.

 

A deep corner sailed over Lee Nicholls' head, was put back across into the mix for Richards to prod it home for Brackley.

 

Brackley`s league rivals Alfreton Town were edged out 3-2 at the Impact Arena by relegated MK Dons` new rivals Morecambe.

 

Adam Campbell gave the visitors a 20th-minute lead.

 

The home side equalised after 32 minutes with a fine header from Luke Shiels.

 

Tom Denton put the Reds 2-1 up on 39 minutes, only for Campbell to level on 55 minutes.

 

Tom Nicholson saved a 79th minute Liam Manderville`s penalty, but an 87th minute Mendes Gomes effort won it for the Shrimps.

 

Alfreton`s rivals Southport secured a 3-0 win at Evo-Stik Northern Premier League West newcomers Widnes.

 

Goals from new signing Bradley Bauress, Liam Davies and Jason Gilchrist sealed Port`s comfortable win.

 

Another National League North side, FC United of Manchester, shared a 1-1 draw at Broadhurst Park against Swiss outfit FC Winterthur.

 

Chris Lynch scored the Red Rebels` equaliser.

 

FC United`s former rivals and now National League Harrogate Town, beat Northern Premier League neighbours Farsley Celtic 3-2 at the CNG Stadium.

 

First half goals from Jack Muldoon and Dom Knowles followed by a second half penalty from Jordan Thewlis ensured Town secure two wins out of two to start pre-season. 

 

Ryan Watson and an own goal were the Celtic replies.

 

National League South club Weston-super-Mare were involved in an amazing 6-6 draw with League Two side Forest Green Rovers at the Woodspring Stadium.

 

Christian Doidge helped himself to a hat-trick for Forest Green, while Jamie Lucas with two, Jacob Cane, Ben Swallow and two trialists – the second levelled for the Seagulls in the 90th minute!

 

Weston`s new league rivals Dulwich Hamlet were over in Germany and beat Hamburg-based HFC Falke 4-2.

 

That man A Trialist bagged a brace for Hamlet alongside efforts from new signing Jay May and Michael Onovwigun.

 

Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division South side Taunton Town began their build-up to the new season with a 5-0 away victory over Toolstation Western League Premier Division outfit Willand Rovers.

 

Ben Adelsbury put Taunton ahead with a 30-yard free-kick after only 8 minutes and Craig Veal added a second in the 12th minute.

 

Keith Emmerson made it 3-0 after 27 minutes and new signing from Truro City, Rocky Neal, scored a fourth in the 31st minute.

 

Leading 4-0 at half-time, Veal quickly got his second of the match in the 48th minute to round off the scoring.

 

Not such an enjoyable evening for the Peacocks` new league rivals Staines Town as they suffered a 7-0 hammering by a strong Queens Park Rangers side at the Wheatsheaf Stadium.

 

Watched by new boss Steve McClaren, Rangers` goals came from former Swan Davie Wheeler with a brace, Giles Phillips, an Aramide Oteh penalty, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Idrissa Sylla and Osman Kakay.

 

Southern League Premier Division Central new boys AFC Rushden & Diamonds won 3-0 at United Counties League Premier Division Newport Pagnell Town.

 

Tom Lorraine, Nathan Hicks and the returning Jack Bowen with the Diamonds` goals.

 

Diamonds` new league rivals King`s Lynn Town won 4-1 at Bostik League North side Mildenhall Town.

 

Toby Hilliard, Michael Gash with two and Kieran Higgs for the Linnets, Luke Butcher for Hall.

 

Southern League Division One South side Cambridge City were beaten 2-1 at Thurlow Nunn League neighbours Newmarket Town.

 

Isaac Maynard replied for City.

 

Northern Premier League West side Colwyn Bay were beaten 5-0 at the Four Crosses Construction Arena by a strong team from League Two Colchester United.

 

Goals from Michael Mandron (2), Tom Lapslie, Aaron Collins and Frank Nouble for the U`s.

 

A goal from Tom Bentham on 68 minutes gave Bay`s league rivals Atherton Collieries a narrow win over touring Bostik South Central visitors Chipstead.

 

Northern Premier League side Mickleover Sports won the KC Trust Trophy after beating League One neighbours Burton Albion 2-1.

 

Niall Doran gave Sports a 21st-minute lead that Joe Sbarra cancelled out in the 51st minute, with A Trialist winning it for the hosts in stoppage time.

 

Southern League Division One West side Cirencester Town lost 4-0 at home to League Two Cheltenham Town.

 

Mo Eisa scored a hat-trick for the Robins.
