The 29-year-old skillful midfielder started his career with AFC Bournemouth.

He went on to play for Eastleigh, Basingstoke Town, Hayes & Yeading United, Gosport Borough and Whitehawk.

He signed for National League South side Hungerford Town in 2017 and after a short return to Gosport in the summer of 2019, he moved to another National League South outfit, Hemel Hempstead Town, and then to Isthmian Premier side Merstham in late December 2019.

Whittingham spent time with the Bulls on trial during the summer.

But, as Gowling told https://www.herefordfc.co.uk: “He played a few times in pre-season and has trained with us on a number of occasions, but we were unable to bring him in at the time.

“He’s a ball-playing midfielder who has looked lively in training and he will add some more strength and depth to the squad”.
