Berko
have signed a new forward in Jervon Campbell.
The
19-year-old joins from league rivals AFC Dunstable, where he moved to in August
2020 from Spartan South Midlands League Division Two side Pitstone & Ivinghoe.
He
was previously on the books at Bovingdon, Hertford Town and Hemel Hempstead
Town.
Meanwhile,
there was more good news for the club off-the-field this week.
The
Dacorum Local Plan 2020 to 2036 was issued in draft form for public
consultation.
The
good news for the club is that Broadwater, which includes the stadium, is not
on the list of major housing developments.
Central
government housing targets do mean there will be a significant loss of Green
Belt land for housing in Dacorum.
Genuine
sports people like to exercise in the countryside and will be disappointed to
see much of it being concreted over in the draft plan.
The
plan covers up to 2036, so the club hopes that when the plan becomes final, its
landlords will allow the club a long lease. Doing so would enable access to
Football Stadium Improvement Fund grants of 70% - even up to £150,000 of grants
over a five-year period for clubs at Step 4 level.
The
club`s current lease is too short for such grants. Nevertheless, they have
completed an application for an extra 100-seater stand for the landlords to
consider at their January meeting.
The
club would finance most of the cost itself. |
