Morrison was only appointed in August and the move represented something of a coup for Cheadle as Morrison has a wealth of recent management experience in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.

After a playing career which saw him play for Chadderton, Maine Road and Mid-Cheshire League side Styal, Morrison became player-manager at Styal, winning the league title in his second season in charge.

He then stepped up to the NWCL with Flixton and with little or no budget took the now disbanded club from adrift at the bottom of the table when he took over, to avoiding relegation.

Flixton then finished 15th in his first full season and 8th place in 2011/12 before he took over at Winsford United in July 2012, most recently departing NPL Division One South East outfit Glossop North End, who he’d been with since 2018.
