Barton joins Farsley from National League side Wrexham, who he joined on a two-year deal in July 2019.

Standing 6`3”, he previously spent time with Portsmouth and Coventry City in the EFL before heading north of the border to Scotland.

Clitheroe-born, he is a product of Preston North End’s academy and joined Partick Thistle during August 2016 and later won Scottish Premier League player of the month.

He went on to join Dundee United in July 2018, spending the latter stages of the 2018/19 on loan at Cymru Premier side Connah’s Quay Nomads after deciding to move closer to home.

Manager Adam Lakeland told https://www.farsleyceltic.com: “I’m delighted that we’ve managed to get Adam on board. He’s a player that I’ve known since he was a young lad, and I’ve always kept tabs on his career.

“He’s had a very good career, played for some big clubs, but he’s still got a lot to offer, he only turns 30 in January.

“His experience, his qualities, his presence and his stature will make him a very good addition to our group and our squad.

“He can play at centre-back in any of the three positions, he can play central midfield and he brings a calmness when in possession, he’s got real composure and quality in possession of the ball and excellent distribution.

“He’s also a real aerial threat, he’s a big lad, so he’ll be an extra presence for us in both boxes and that’ll only further strengthen our qualities from set plays.

“We’re really delighted to have him on board, because he’s a good lad, and he showed a great attitude and enthusiasm to come and join us.

“There were other clubs that were interested in taking him and he could have gone elsewhere for more money, but he’s bought into how we try and do things at Farsley, and he came in a couple of times and enjoyed his experience at the club, enjoyed the group of lads and enjoyed training.

“He was keen to come and join us and we’re delighted, he’ll only make us stronger that’s for sure.”
