With
the Mariners season currently on hold until the first week of March at least,
the Heed moved for the defensive duo and they could make their debuts in
Saturday’s home game against Guiseley.
Adams (pictured) is a 29-year-old defender who signed for South Shields in the summer of 2018.
The
former Sunderland, Coventry City and Notts County left-back had been without a
club since leaving Hartlepool United at the end of the 2017/18 season.
He
can also play on the left side of midfield, and needed little introduction to
life at Mariners Park, having regularly attended games over recent seasons,
including the FA Vase Final at Wembley in 2017.
Morse
is a 26-year-old defender who joined Shields in the summer of 2016 after making
the move from Blyth Spartans.
He
moved to Croft Park in the 2015/16 season.
In
joining Shields, he made a return to the Northern League, having spent an
impressive spell with Newcastle Benfield as a teenager.
He
had earlier been a youngster with Carlisle United, and his time at Benfield
caught the eye of several clubs, including Gateshead, who snapped him up in
2014.
He
won the league with Gateshead's under-19s side before linking up with Blyth in
the summer of 2015.
He
quickly made an impression at Croft Park and he made 41 appearances in 2015/16
season as Blyth won 99 points, finishing second in the Northern Premier. |
