Smith
was a product of the Reading academy and came up through their youth teams
before signing a two-year deal with Fulham.
His
first professional deal though came with Brighton & Hove Albion, where
Smith spent a further two seasons without making a first team appearance.
A
move to Bognor Regis Town followed in 2015/16 and it was this move that allowed
Smith to finally show everyone his talent at senior level. In fact, he not only
cemented his place as Bognor’s first choice keeper but helped them to one of
their greatest ever seasons.
In
a season where Bognor reached the last four of the FA Trophy before bowing out
to Grimsby Town, Smith continued to impress and played a big part in helping
Bognor comfortably make the Isthmian Premier League play-offs before losing to
Dulwich Hamlet in a tense last-minute semi-final defeat.
Smith
then spent two seasons with Boreham Wood, making 92 appearances, with his last
being the Promotion Final defeat at Wembley against Tranmere Rovers.
A
switch then followed to Lincoln City in June 2018 on two-year contract.
He
made just 16 appearances for the Imps with some memorable performances along
the way, before returning to Boreham Wood in January 2020 on loan for the
remainder of what turned out to be a curtailed 2019/20 season.
In
October 2020, he signed for Wealdstone after being released by the Imps but was
allowed to leave just over a month later. |
