The 33-year-old has a wealth of experience in the game, having started his career in England at Rushden & Diamonds where he became a prolific goalscorer.
That
earned him a move to Gillingham and in the 2008/09 season, Jackson scored 20 goals
in League Two, and then scored all 3 goals in the Gills’ successful play-off
run, including scoring the only goal in the 2009 League Two play-off final at
Wembley.
Jackson’s
prolific goalscoring earnt him a move to Norwich City, where he played a key
part in the Canaries going up to the Premier League, scoring 13 goals,
including the winner against Portsmouth which sealed promotion.
He
then played two seasons in the Premier League before joining Bundesliga side
Eintracht Braunschweig in 2013 for a season.
On
his return to England, he played for several clubs at the Championship and
League One level, including Millwall, Coventry City, Barnsley, Blackburn Rovers
and Walsall.
He
then played in the Scottish Premiership where he appeared for St Mirren and
Kilmarnock, before returning to England once more to play for Stevenage.
Jackson
has also had a successful international career. Although born in Jamaica, he
moved to Canada at a young age, and picked up 49 caps for Les Rouges.
After
playing in Canada’s run to the Gold Cup quarter-finals in 2009, Jackson won the
Canadian player of the year award and in 2011 and became only the second
Canadian to score a hat-trick in World Cup Qualifying when he netted 3 against
Saint Lucia.
Chelmsford
manager Robbie Simpson told https://www.chelmsfordcityfc.com:
“We’re delighted to sign Simeon. Jake Cass has made a great start to his
Chelmsford career, but I still felt we were missing an experienced head up front
after Charlie Sheringham’s departure.
“Simeon
has played a lot of games in the Football League and he will be a great
influence not only on the pitch but off it as well. He also gives us something
different to our other forward players which adds to our nice blend of
attacking talent. We’re really excited to have him and I’m looking forward to
him donning the Claret shirt”. |
