Knight,
a fans’ favourite and the Avenue’s top scorer with 11 goals in 15 appearances
this season, joined the Horsfall Stadium outfit in 2018 and signed a new
one-year deal last summer.
But,
with Avenue’s season declared null and void and his contract nearing expiry, County
have paid a nominal fee to secure his services until 2023.
The
22-year-old is a pacey forward who signed for Avenue having featured as a
trialist throughout the summer of 2018.
He
is a product of Leeds United’s academy and featured regularly for the club’s
under-18 and under-23 sides as a scholar before being released in 2017.
Following
his Elland Road exit, he moved to the USA to study at Marshall University and
was prolific for the university’s team in the Conference USA league.
County
have also completed loan deals for right-back Kenton Richardson and experienced
centre-back Mark Ellis.
Twenty-one-year-old
Richardson joined Sunderland’s under-23 set-up last summer after racking up
more than 40 League Two and National League appearances for Hartlepool United.
Ellis (pictured) has represented Torquay United, Crewe Alexandra, Shrewsbury Town and Carlisle
United in the EFL, while he also tasted life in the National League with spells
at Leyton Orient and Forest Green Rovers earlier in his career.
The
32-year-old will spend the rest of the season on loan from Tranmere Rovers
while Sunderland prospect Richardson will initially remain at Meadow Lane until
5th April.
The
pair are eligible for the Buildbase FA Trophy semi-final against Hornchurch as
well as all National League matches for the duration of their respective stays. |
