The veteran defender
or midfielder was the second most featured player last season after notching 45
appearances - 44 of which being starts.
Howarth impressed in
his debut season at Ings Lane starting out as a full-back before moving into a
central midfield role for the second half of the campaign.
The former Farsley
Celtic man also played his part in the final third recording two goals and two
assists.
“It didn’t really
feel like last season was my first year at Tadcaster,” Howarth told the club`s
website. “I was always made welcome by the fans, management and the players
that the management brought in. I felt as though it was always going to be work
in progress having changed management and bringing in more or less a completely
new squad. However, I knew I could add something with my experience and
versatility as a player.
“It’s is a tough
league and you haven’t got much time to make many mistakes, but I always had
confidence that we would get things right with the right people around.
Building on last season we can only improve, with having a full season together
and adding further quality to the squad it’s an exciting time to see what this
season brings.”
Assistant-manager
Simon Collins understands the importance of having something of Howarth’s
experience not just on the pitch but off it also: “We are pleased to retain the
services of Howey again, he was great for us last year. He gave us a great
balance when playing in both defence and midfield and his disciplined mentality
is key at times”. |
