Mawer has a wealth of experience as a player, having started his career in the Football League with Watford and Peterborough United.

He then played in the Conference for Grays Athletic and Weymouth, as well as enjoying spells with Arlesey Town and Biggleswade Town along the way.

He also won the FA Trophy while at Grays Athletic in 2005/06.

Mawer joins the Greens from Vanarama National League neighbours Boreham Wood where he spent eight years initially coaching the PASE Academy team, having previously been involved in the club's community coaching, and moving on to become reserve team manager and finally first team coach in 2017.
