It appeared that Grant Roberts and Andre Johnson had done enough to force penalties as they netted in the final 8 minutes, but it was the Whites who will go on to face Cleethorpes Town in the semi-finals.

In a match full of incident, Kevin Hemagou and Matt Cotton put Lincoln 2-0 up, while Paul Grimes missed from the spot and Pilgrims `keeper Dylan Parkin was sent-off 5 minutes after half-time for a `professional foul`.

A deep corner from former Blues star Darren Carter struck Joe Redmond at the far post and the ball cannoned in off the young Irish defender.

Stalybridge`s new league rivals Bamber Bridge went down 3-1 at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium to Burnley`s rivals Everton`s under-23s.
