After
going through a series of applicants and socially distanced meetings at the
club, there were some impressive candidates that showed an interest for the
role.
After
being forced to finish his playing career which consisted of regular
appearances in Steps 3, 4 and 5, Wells took his first coaching role in managing
Oxford City Ladies.
Five
seasons as manager saw him guide his team to three successive seasons of finishing
second in the SRWFL, amid county and league cup trophies.
In
2018, Wells entered into the men's game, being appointed assistant manager of Southern
Premier Division Central side Redditch United.
In
September 2019 he was brought in by current Wycombe Ladies manager Dave Ward
and together created plans to see the Chairgirls reach new heights.
Wells
told the club`s official website: “After discussions with Matt Biddle and James
Keller it was very clear the vision in place and more importantly the process
of implementing the necessary steps to achieve it.
“Seeing
the club and all the work going on currently a the ground, it’s clear this is a
club evolving and wants to recreate good times once more, I want to be a part
of that journey”.
