The
central midfielder, who is described as possessing silky skills with a touch of
aggression, had trials with both Leeds United and Norwich City before joining Lincoln
City, signing professional forms in 2003.
In
January 2004, he joined Lincoln United on loan and although he subsequently
made his League debut for Lincoln, he was loaned out to Stamford during the
autumn of 2005.
An
impressive start to the 2006/07 season saw Lincoln offer a two-year extension
to his current contract to keep him at Sincil Bank until June, 2009.
In
November 2006, he was named in the Republic of Ireland (B) international squad
for a friendly tie with Scotland. He was allowed to play for Ireland due to
fact that his maternal grandparents were born there.
In
February 2009, he joined Peterborough United on a three-month loan with a view
to a permanent transfer and played 4 times in the Posh's promotion season from
League One to the Championship.
The
permanent transfer took place during the second week of May, 2009
In
October 2012, he joined Rotherham United on loan. He scored 4 goals in 16 games
and the signed for an undisclosed substantial fee in January 2013.
Frecklington
scored in a 2-0 win over Aldershot Town in April 2013 which secured Rotherham's
promotion to League One. They were promoted to the Championship the following
season.
He
also played when a 1-0 home defeat to Fulham saw the Millers relegated to
League One.
In
January 2018, he re-signed for Lincoln on a two-and-a-half-year deal, after turning
down an approach from Mansfield.
He
was released by Lincoln in May 2020 having made 51 appearances and scoring 7
