The
36-year-old signed for Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One South
East side Stamford AFC in December 2020.
He
is based locally and has been playing outfield for United Counties League side
Peterborough Northern Star.
He
started his career with Peterborough United in 1999, before bagging a big move
to Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. United paid Peterborough £500,000 back in
2002, signing Steele on a four-year contract, with the fee potentially rising
to £2.25 million after a certain number of first-team appearances.
The
former England under-18, 19 and under-20 international went on to enjoy spells
at Coventry City, West Bromwich Albion, Greek side Panathinaikos, Barnsley,
where he made over 200 appearances, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and
Millwall over a stellar 20-year career.
He
hadn`t played in goal after walking away from Nottingham Forest when his
contract expired at the end of the 2019/20 season until he signed for the
Daniels. |
