Striker
Dan Maguire and defenders Jordan Watson, Nathan Buddle and Michael Liddle have
all returned to Croft Park, while JJ O`Donnell has arrived from league rivals Gateshead.
Maguire (pictured),
28, left Blyth to join rivals York City in June 2019.
He
decided to make the move into full-time football after making 310 appearances
for Spartans, scoring 159 goals.
The
talismanic forward joined the club from Seaton Delaval during the 2012/13
season and became a fans favourite.
He
had a short spell with FC Halifax Town and has played for the England C team.
He
helped York to the play-offs in 2019/20 before switching to league rivals
Darlington in July 2020.
The
28-year-old Watson started his career at Sunderland before moving to Blyth in
August 2014 where he had a very successful spell being part of the team that
reached the Third Round of the FA Cup in 2015.
He
moved to Darlington for the first time in the summer of 2016 and upon his
return to Blyth in February 2017, he helped them win the Northern Premier
League Premier Division title which saw them promoted into the National League
North.
He
returned to Darlington again in June 2019.
Buddle
has returned for his third spell at the club.
The
central defender first joined Blyth in 2013 following his release from
Hartlepool United before his standout performances in the 2014/15 FA Cup run
earned him a move to EFL side Carlisle United.
Buddle
spent time at Gateshead before a loan spell back to Croft Park swiftly turned
into a permanent one.
The
central defender played a massive part in the club’s recent success – including
the Northern Premier League and Northumberland Senior Cup double.
He
was a part of the squad that reached the National League North play-offs two
years ago before joining Spennymoor Town.
With
236 Blyth appearances to his name, Buddle will now add to that tally during the
upcoming campaign.
Vastly
experienced defender Liddle joined Darlington in May 2019 from Blyth Spartans.
He
made 112 appearances for Blyth, netting on 4 occasions and picked up numerous
end of year awards for his exploits.
He
started his career with Sunderland and had loan spells with Carlisle United,
Leyton Orient and Gateshead whilst at the Stadium of Light, and also appeared
for Accrington Stanley and Dunston UTS before joining Spartans in 2016.
O`Donnell,
29, completed a remarkable comeback from injury as he featured in the Gateshead
starting XI for the first time in two and a half years at the back end of the
2016/17 season.
He
initially signed for Gateshead on loan from Luton Town in January 2014 and
helped the club reach the Conference Promotion Final at Wembley.
His
stoppage time goal against Grimsby Town in the play-off semi-final at the
International Stadium is sure to live long in the memory of many a Heed fan and
following the end of his loan spell, the then 22-year-old signed for the
Tynesiders on a permanent basis.
A
rare foot condition then threatened an early retirement for the left-sided
player but plenty of hard work helped him get back on his feet with Gateshead
keeping him involved through the role of kit manager – a position at the
now-National League North he still holds. |
