Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One South East club Spalding United have re-signed two former players in Gregg Smith and Nathan Stainfield.

Smith is a 31-year-old forward who re-joined NPL Premier Division side Grantham Town in June 2019 following a second spell with Stamford AFC.

 

He had returned to the Daniels in February 2019 from Tamworth.

 

He was previously with the Daniels in 2015/16 before leaving for Boston United.

 

He has also played for King`s Lynn, Tamworth, Spalding and Brackley Town.

 

He was last with Grantham in 2014 before he moved to King`s Lynn and he made 89 appearances for the Gingerbreads, bagging 32 goals.

 

In October 2019 he left Grantham for Midland Leaguers Newark Flowserve before returning to the NPL Premier Division just before Christmas 2019 with Gainsborough Trinity.

 

Stainfield (pictured) is a 32-year-old defender who returns to the Sir Halley Stewart Fields from Stamford, where he moved to in January 2021 from Midland League Premier Division side Newark Flowserve.

 

The experienced player signed for Newark in the summer of 2020 after a spell with Gainsborough Trinity.

 

He moved to the Northolme following a second spell with Spalding, for whom he had re-joined for the 2013/14 season from Boston United where he was a member of the successful Lincolnshire Shield winning side.

 

He ended his debut season for Tulips with a number of club awards, being voted the managers`, players` and supporters` player of the year trophies.

 

He also played in the British Universities Championship series for Notts Trent and won the Bucks National Cup. Among his other clubs are Bourne Town and Hucknall Town.

 

At the end of the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons he was voted into the NPL First Division South team of the year.
