The club announced that Steve Heath will continue as first-team manager and Leon Cashman as his assistant.

And Heath has swooped to sign defender Lewis Ferrell (pictured).

The 30-year-old right-back re-joined Southern Premier Central side Biggleswade Town in October 2020 from Vanarama National League South outfit Braintree Town, who he had signed for in July 2020.

He had joined the Waders from rivals Hitchin Town in November 2019 and had signed for the Canaries in the summer of 2018 from Farnborough.

He had spent the majority of the 2017/18 season with St Ives Town.

He previously played in the National League South for Staines Town, Hayes & Yeading United, Hampton & Richmond Borough and in his first spells with Farnborough after starting his career in Brentford’s youth system.

Striker and club record goalscorer, BJ Christie, has also re-signed, having been on dual forms with National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town last season.

Christie has well over 250 goals to his name for the club and is now all-time record appearance holder too.

He first turned out for the club at 15 and has had another couple of spells away from the club with Dunstable Town, Barton Rovers and Berkhamsted but always returns.

Another prolific marksman, Jake Newman, has also committed to the club.

The 29-year-old much-travelled striker joined AFC in October 2020.

He signed for St Ives Town in November 2018 from Peterborough Sports before returning to Kempston Rovers in August 2019 and then neighbours and league rivals Bedford Town in early January 2020.

The proven goalscorer at Steps 3 and 4 has also consistently found the net with his previous sides including 34 goals in 51 appearances for Kempston and 27 goals in 57 appearances spread over two spells with AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

His other previous clubs include AFC Stamford, Spalding United, Wellingborough Town, Oadby Town and Kettering Town.

Young midfielder Jack Harvey, who made a positive impression last season, has also put pen-to-paper.

He will be looking to build on his impressive form this season.

Dylan Baker is another young midfielder hoping to push on after breaking into the first team last season, while Christian Tavernier, who started out at Luton Town before joining AFC Dunstable in 2017 after five years at Arlesey Town, has also re-signed.

A tall, elegant player, he had a short spell with Stotfold in between in time at Arlesey.

Primarily a central defender, Alasan Ann, 27, can also play in midfield.

He joined AFC in August 2020 having returned to the area having been with Northern Counties East League outfit Selby Town, who he first signed for whilst attending York University studying physiotherapy.

More locally he has played for St Neots Town, Kings Langley and Hitchin Town, who he helped reach the play-off final.

Meanwhile, Jack McCool steps up into the first-team squad along with James Lauder after a successful season in the development team.
