Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club Workinton AFC and Ebac Northern League First Division side Consett were involved in an entertaining 3-3 draw at Borough Park on Saturday.

Two fine Danny Craggs goals, a header and a crisp low shot from the edge of the box, put Consett in the driving seat.

Those strikes after 13 and 36 minutes were bettered by Michael Mackay’s delightful curler which saw Reds 3-1 after Ellis Pearson`s first goal for the hosts.

Matty Douglas and Conor Tinnion pulled the Reds back on level terms.

Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division Central new boys AFC Rushden & Diamonds were at Hayden Road as the away team and ran out 4-1 winners against their groundshare partners, United Counties League Division One side Rushden & Higham United, to lift the Chris Ruff Memorial Cup again.

A goal apiece in the first 3 minutes got the game off to a lively start. Jack Ashton connected with a first minute corner to put the away side ahead but Rushden & Higham were level on 3 minutes as the ball was played back across Ben Heath by Ross Patrick into an empty net from wide on the right.

Diamonds gradually started to dominate possession and after spurning some good shooting positions took the lead on 31 minutes as Jack Bowen beat the on-rushing keeper to the ball to head home at the far post.

Diamonds were further ahead on 56 minutes as Tom Lorraine latched onto a great through ball to coolly chip the advancing keeper.

It was 4-1 on 72 minutes as Ben Ford found the net from 40 yards as his effort flew over the hapless home keeper.

Diamonds` new league rivals, Lowestoft Town, also claimed an early cup by winning the Sailor Brown Memorial Trophy 4-3 at Thurlow Nunn League neighbours Gorleston.

Jackson Ramm and Ross Gilfedder with two for the Greens, Matt Brown with two, Cole Avery and new boy Ben Fowkes for the Trawlerboys.

A late Josh Sedgley goal sealed a 2-1 win for Southern League Division One Central side Chasetown at Total Motion Midland Leaguers Rocester.

Jack Langston gave Chasetown the lead before a superb free-kick narrowly eluded the fingers of 16-year-old goalkeeper Liam Bullock.

Sedgley volleyed home in the dying minutes following a left-wing cross from Okoma Kulisewa.

The first ever meeting between Northern Premier League West side Leek Town and Hallmark Security League Premier Division outfit 1874 Northwich was one to forget for the visitors and they crashed to a 6-1 defeat.

Charlie Walford, Dominic Smith, Tyler Blake, Dan Trickett-Smith and Rob Stevenson with two for Leek.

Reece Blackmoor who scored the only goal of the game on 66 minutes to earn Northern Premier League East side Carlton Town a good home win over Southern League Premier Division Central side Bedworth United.

Carlton`s new league rivals AFC Mansfield shared a 3-3 draw at Queensgate against former Toolstation Northern Counties East League rivals Bridlington Town.

Bridlington`s league rivals Knaresborough Town were beaten 1-0 at home by Ebac Northern League First Division side North Shields.

An early 3rd minute Ben Sampson goal proved enough for Shields.

Another NCEL outfit, Worksop Town, saw off a youthful side from SkyBet Championships Sheffield United at Sandy Lane.

After the Blades led at the break with a goal right on the whistle from Dave Parkhouse, a Connor Brunt spot-kick and Will Wraith late on won it for the hosts.

The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Ed Shedchuk and Nick Guest inside 22 minutes.

A Cameron Dear penalty made it 3-0 after 65 minutes, but Joe McFadyen, Tim Taylor and James Faulkner scored to pull Brid level in the final 13 minutes.

Southern Premier Division Central side Hitchin Town had a comfortable 4-0 win at Spartan South Midlands League new boys Arlesey Town.

Josh Bickerstaff bagged a hat-trick for the Canaries, with Robbie Burns having opened the scoring.

Southern League Division One South side Paulton Rovers suffered a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Toolstation Western League Premier Division outfit Cribbs.

Rovers` 17-year-old keeper made a number of excellent saves before Cribbs striker Dowdell ran on to a deep cross to beat the youngster to give the hosts the lead.

Ten minutes after the restart Dowdell launched on to a misplaced pass round the unlucky Forster to tap home.

Six minutes later and Wilkinson slotted home a third.

Two minutes later Paulton were awarded a soft penalty as centre-forward Jack Ball was alleged to have been pushed off the ball and he struck a firmly taken spot-kick to reduce the deficit.

With 6 minutes left Jack McKeens popped up to fire home Cribbs fourth.

Paulton`s league rivals Bristol Manor Farm were on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat by Cribbs` new league rivals Plymouth Parkway.

The former South West Peninsula Leaguers were highly impressive.

Bostik League Premier side Kingstonian drew 1-1 with Bostik South East outfit Hastings United at the Pilot Field.

K's opened the scoring in the 20th minute when a super cross from Mo Faal found Elliott Buchanan unmarked in the box and he headed home.

Hastings equalised when a cross from the left found the unmarked Manny Mensah and he nodded home with 10 minutes remaining.

Hastings` league rivals East Grinstead Town enjoyed a good 1-0 win at Whitehawk, relegated from the National League South to the Bostik Premier at the end of last season.

A Steve Sargent free-kick after 33 minutes won it for the Wasps.

Northern League First Division Bishop Auckland beat Northern Premier League side Whitby Town 2-1.

Darren Richardson equalised just before half-time and then a second half penalty converted by Callum Patton won in for the hosts after a trialist had given the Seasiders the lead.

Whitby`s league rivals Nantwich Town went down 2-1 at the Weaver Stadium to a Blackpool XI.

The League One side took the lead early thanks to a goal from a trialist before Nantwich equalised midway through the first half through a James Lawrie penalty.

The visitors won it with a goal from Marc Bola 5 minutes after the break.

Another Northern Premier League side, Warrington Town, won 4-1 at NCEL side Runcorn Town.

Josh Amis, Tony Gray, Richard Brodie and Ben Garrity for the Wire.

United Counties League Premier Division newcomers Rugby Town were beaten 2-1 by Northern Premier Leaguers Hednesford Town.

Danico Johnson replied for Valley after new signing Dan Cockerline and Reece King had put the Pitmen two-up.
