The 33-year-old 6`4” striker joins Celtic after leaving Grimsby Town following their relegation back into the National League at the end of last season.

The Bradford-born forward is vastly experienced in the Football League and racked up over 500 appearances and scored around150 goals.

He started his career at with spells in the academies at Huddersfield Town and Bradford City before dropping into non-League football with Eccleshill United and Guiseley.

He was snapped up by Bradford City in July 2009 and went onto play 335 times for the Bantams, scoring 91 goals.

He helped the Yorkshire side win the League Two play-offs in 2013 and played a key role in their run to the League Cup Final in the same year.

Sheffield United swooped to sign him in January 2017 and he was part of the Blades squad who won the League One title under Chris Wilder. However, he fell down the pecking order at Bramall Lane and was loaned to Bury before joining AFC Wimbledon in 2018.

He scored 5 goals for Wimbledon in 2018/19 in 29 games before joining the Mariners in 2019, making a further 52 appearances with 11 goals.

Manager Adam Lakeland told https://www.farsleyceltic.com: “We’re delighted to capture a player of James’ quality, he’ll certainly make us stronger that’s for sure.

“If we’re being honest, James should still be playing in League Two, and there was interest in him from clubs in League Two and the National League, but the key for James was being closer to home.

“He now gives us some fantastic attacking options. I already believe we have one of, if not, the best number nines in the league in Jimmy Spencer, and now adding James into that we’ve probably got two of them.

“The pair of them will certainly be a real handful for defenders to play against, and obviously it gives us a number of different ways which we can play.

“if we’re going to try and improve on our 11th place finish last season then we probably do need to score more goals, and hopefully James is someone who can come in and do that”.
