Striker
Chris Wreh and midfielder Brandon Patterson were revealed as new arrivals at
the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium ahead of Saturday`s 1-0 pre-season
friendly defeat by Vanarama National League North neighbours Brackley Town.
Wreh (pictured),
25, joins from league rivals AFC Rushden & Diamonds, where he was in his
second spell.
He
had returned to Diamonds in July 2020 after Rushall Olympic beat off
competition from elsewhere to sign the talented striker from another Southern
Premier Division Central rival, Stratford Town, in January 2020.
The
son of former Arsenal, Monaco and Liberia international, Christopher Wreh, he
is big, strong powerful front man and has proved to be a handful for opposition
defences.
Born
in the USA, he has played with Spartan South Midlands League Division One side
Stony Stratford Town, and also spent time with Southern League Division One
Central outfit Barton Rovers, Aylesbury Vale Dynamos and Dunstable Town.
He
has also been with MK Gallacticos and Newport Pagnell Town.
Manager
Andy Whing told his club`s website: “We’ve been after a number 9 for some time
now and are delighted to get Chris on board with us for this season. He’s got a
great record at this level and wants to improve, score goals and progress his
career. With the attacking players we’ve now got it’s another really exciting
signing for us.”
Patterson
has impressed in pre-season games and has now signed for the Puritans ahead of
the new season.
The
17-year-old midfielder has been playing for Coventry Alliance side Dunlop FC.
Whing
added: “We’re really excited at the signing of Brandon. He’s impressed us this
pre-season and we believe he will improve with his hunger to succeed and his
undoubted talent. Brandon is an exciting prospect, and we’re glad he will grow
at Banbury United.”
