Buckley-Ricketts created quite an impression in pre-season games and manager Liam Watson was quick to agree terms with the exciting attacking player.

The 23-year-old Manchester-born forward arrives at Southport after spending his youth career with Manchester City and he went out on loan to FC Twente and Oxford United and spent the 2018/19 season with Peterborough United before returning to the region.

After progressing through the ranks of Manchester City’s academy, he signed a scholarship with the club in July 2014 and progressed quickly through the club’s under-18 side and then the development squad.

He has played at England under-18, 19 and under-20 level.

Since leaving Posh, he has been turning out for his local team, Stretford Paddock, in the Lancashire & Cheshire Amateur League.
