Lions Forced to Make Six Additions to Their Squad
Due to a variety of circumstances, Vanarama National League North club Guiseley AFC were forced to add no less than six new players to the squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Darlington, so it was not surprising they suffered a 5-1 defeat.

After last Tuesday’s trip to AFC Telford United was postponed following a Covid-19 incident joint managers Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill have been busy.

No less than FIFTEEN players were ruled out of the trip to Darlington’s Blackwell Meadows ground through injury, suspension or isolation after being a close contact of a positive covid case.

So, Luke Hall, Andrai Jones, Oliver Reape, Harrison Leigh, Ellis Farrar and Jakub Hebda were all brought in as last-minute recruits.

Hall has joined from Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One East side Sheffield FC on a dual registration basis.

The 18-year-old midfielder signed for the World’s Oldest Club in the summer following his departure from SkyBet League One side Sheffield Wednesday and has represented England at youth level.

Midfielder Jones returns for his third spell with the Lions, having left the club following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign.

Jones (pictured) played a crucial role during the 2019/20 season which was sadly cut short just as the Lions were getting into form.

Reape, Leigh, Farrar and Hebda have all signed first team forms after impressing for Guiseley`s academy.

The four graduates follow Josh Stones, who signed earlier in the week before then striking twice in a 3-2 win over FC Halifax Town.

Reape is a 17-year-old right back who is in his first year with the young Lions and has featured in all of the academy’s seven games so far this season after growing up in the Guiseley area and he has been a regular at Nethermoor supporting the Lions over the years.

Leigh, the young Lions captain, is a commanding centre-back.

The 18-year-old is also an ever-present in the academy team and he has struck two goals in the FA Youth Cup.

Farrar is also a centre-back who has played all seven games so far for the young Lions.

The 18-year-old has found the net once this season so far.

Hebda is another member of the young Lions squad to be rewarded with first team forms after their 100% start to the season.

The 17-year-old striker has scored 9 goals in the 7 games he has played so far this season and has struck up a good partnership with Stones at the top end of the pitch.
