Northern
Star had already pulled their reserve team out of the Peterborough League and
the United Counties League have received an email withdrawing the first team
from the competition.
Northern
Star have struggled on and off the field in recent seasons and are currently
third-from-bottom with just 7 points from 20 matches. However, they took
leaders Hinckley Leicester Road, who have won every game to date, all the way
at the weekend before going down to a last-minute penalty.
The
club’s tenancy at Chestnut Avenue is thought to have now been terminated.
It
is unclear at this point what affect this will have on Northern Star’s many
junior, youth and girls sides.
Peterborough
Northern Star came under the control of joint owners Scott Steward and Vince
Gosling in April 2020.
Lloyd
Burton became manager last season and recently appointed Jan Czarnecki as his
assistant.
This
Saturday`s scheduled game has already been cancelled.
