Thomas
had only moved to the Peacocks in October having been released by Vanarama
National League North side Gloucester City the previous month.
The
22-year-old was originally with Westfields before signing for town neighbours
Hereford United in 2013.
He
joined Cheltenham Town in 2013 and signed his first professional deal in May
2017.
Prior
to this, Thomas enjoyed a short-term loan spell with Southern Division One
Central outfit North Leigh towards the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
Thomas
went onto make his first-team debut for the Robins during their EFL Trophy tie
against Swansea City under-23s in 2017.
In
September 2017, Thomas returned to North Leigh on loan until January 2018.
At
the start of 2018/19, after being released by Cheltenham, Thomas signed for
Gloucester.
Manager
Scott Bartlett told his club`s website: “We have targeted Josh for some time.
He is powerful and versatile so will be a perfect fit for us. He also has a
connection to four others in our squad from Gloucester so will settle in well.
“We
were just unable to get things sorted recently prior to him signing for Taunton
but things change quickly in football and an opportunity came up for us over
the last day or so. I’d like to thank Kevin Sturmey for helping us get it all
sorted so quickly.
“We
have a lot of games coming up – we think the addition of Marlon Jackson and
Josh will help us”. |
