Long-Serving Marshall Leaves Staveley
Brett Marshall's six-and-a-half-year spell as manager of Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division club Staveley Miners Welfare has come to an end following his resignation.

Since being appointed at Inkersall Road in May 2015, Marshall had been in charge of over 250 games for the Trojans.

But the announcement of his departure came less than 24 hours after a 4-0 home defeat to Penistone Church that left his side 13th in the Premier Division.

A statement by chairman Terry Damms on http://www.staveleymwfc.co.uk reads: "It is with deep regret that I accepted the resignation of Brett Marshall as first team manager, along with his assistants Paul Ward and Ian Bowling.

"It brings to a close his stewardship since 2015 when he took my offer of the job.

"I am devastated by his resignation, but I will look back at his time here and say it has been an absolute pleasure to see him manage with passion, enthusiasm and a desire to see only success for the club and players in front of anything for himself - a totally unselfish and unique bloke who will be sadly missed.

"When I was engulfed and distracted in the last few years, planning and developing and finally seeing the construction work here underway, he and his management team got on with the job and assisted me in so many ways. An absolute gem is Brett.

"I am going to take time to seek the appointment of a replacement manager.

"I know to try and replace Brett with the same ethos and qualities will prove to be an arduous and seemingly impossible task".
