Arnold
is a local lad that played for Salisbury youth for the under-12s and under-13s
prior to joining the Elite Training Centre in Southampton.
He
then joined the Yeovil Town academy in November 2016 and was offered a youth
scholarship deal to remain at Huish Park in December 2017.
On
January 1st 2019, he made his debut for Yeovil in League Two as a late
substitute in their 4–1 defeat against Cheltenham Town at the age of just 17 years
and 38 days - breaking the record for the youngest Yeovil player in the English
Football League.
During
his time at Yeovil, he was sent out on loan to Salisbury`s league rivals
Dorchester Town to gain match experience in the 2019/20 season but was then
released by the Glovers at the end of the 2019/20 season when his youth
scholarship expired.
Steve
Claridge told https://www.salisburyfc.co.uk: “This means that Devon will be
playing regular football at a good level which at the age of 20 years old is
something he needs to do. It doesn’t mean that Devon has left the club only
that he will gain valuable experience in men’s football that will hopefully
benefit not only himself but also Salisbury football club. He can be recalled
at any time so if we need him for any specific games, we will have the first
option on that. He’s done well with the Development side but by his own
admission, he needs to test himself to the full week in, week out”. |
