The 21-year-old had joined the Greens in July from another league rival, Yaxley.

He had made the permanent move to the Cuckoos in July 2020 following his release by SkyBet League One side Cambridge United.

He failed to make the senior side at the Abbey Stadium but gained experience in non-League football.

In January 2019, he joined then-Isthmian League North side Mildenhall Town on `work experience`. He was leading scorer for Cambridge`s under-18 side at the time, with his double-figure tally including two hat-tricks.

In November 2019, Bennett joined Yaxley on loan having just completed a similar spell with league rivals St Neots Town, where he made 14 appearances and scored 2 goals.

He played 18 times for the Cuckoos and scored an impressive 5 times.

Wisbech manager Brett Whaley told https://www.wisbechtownfc.co.uk: "I’m delighted to get Sam on board. We’ve been wanting to bring a forward in that can stretch sides with their pace and Sam can definitely do that.

"Whenever I’ve come up against him I’ve been really impressed with his movement and he’s always been a real threat, and I think he’ll really compliment the forwards we already have at the club."

The Fenmen have also confirmed the signings of Theo Lukyanuzi on `work experience` from Championship neighbours Peterborough United and goalkeeper Dylan Taylor (pictured).

The teenage keeper also started his career with Posh but has been turning out for United Counties League sides Blackstones and the sadly now defunct Peterborough Northern Star this season.
