Mustoe started his career with Manchester United in 1995 as a schoolboy, winning a FA Youth Cup winner's medal two years later and also represented England at under-16 level.

He was awarded a professional contract but was released by Sir Alex Ferguson without playing a first-team game.

Since 2003, he has been back in his native Gloucester and played for the likes of Gloucester City, who he skippered, Stevenage Borough and Yeovil Town and working in a warehouse in the Gloucester Business Park.

Ritchie Warden, who briefly took charge following the departure of Richard Cox on Sunday, will work alongside Mustoe.
