The 20-year-old is a product of the Blades’ academy and is fresh from a tremendously successful loan spell at County`s league rivals Southend United, who he joined at the end of August having played 90 minutes in United’s EFL Cup victories over Carlisle and Derby at Bramall Lane.

Head coach Ian Burchnall told https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk: “Zak’s someone we’ve had our eye on for a while.

“He played against us for Southend a few weeks ago, which gave us a chance to take a look at him up close, and his performance only reaffirmed our thoughts that he’s a quality player with a bright future.

“He is very, very technical and can play the holding role, as a number-eight or off a centre-forward, so adds depth in the midfield area which will be crucial given the Covid situation and the many important games we have coming up.”

Brunt will not be eligible for County`s Buildbase FA Trophy matches, however, having featured in the competition for Southend.
