However,
they will have a new venue which will be in Askern, Doncaster - subject to
ground grading visit imminently.
The
club have been actively looking to secure a long-term home and have explored
every opportunity over the past 18 months in the East Yorkshire region.
Having
been unable to secure a venue good enough for Step 6, one that’s financially
viable and longer than a season tenure, the club have had to look further
afield.
As
with a long-term home now secured, the club also have to announce yet another
name change to the club. For the 2022/23 season and foreseeable future the club
will be known as Askern Miners FC and all will be ratified by the NCEL and
County FA’s in the coming weeks.
The
passion for football on both sides of the respective clubs ultimately led to a
quick decision for us to be based in Askern on a permanent basis. When both clubs
discussed their development plans it was clear all parties wanted the same
outcome.
FC
Humber United wanted a long-term ground and a junior set-up, Askern Miners FC
wanted to work towards having a Step 6 first team.
Askern
Miners Football Club have built up a fantastic youth set up over the years
which is made up of nearly 20 teams making it one of the biggest youth set-ups
in the Doncaster area.
They
have provided opportunities for all and have had a lot of success in the
process, on and off the pitch with a vast number of coaches, volunteers and
huge community backing.
The
club also has two senior men’s teams, the first team played in Step 7 for the
2021/22 season having won the Doncaster Senior League the season before.
They
too have some fantastic coaches and volunteers and have also have a large
backing from the community with large attendances at games etc. all the way
through the club there are talented, committed players.
The
club has grown rapidly over recent years and it is now time to join forces and ensure
the club continues to go from strength to strength.
A
fantastic pathway for all junior players associated with Askern Miners Football
Club has now been strengthened with the opportunity to play at
semi-professional level in the years to come.
A
fresh start, this time with a long-term home and strong club structure behind
us.
Chairman,
Richard Smales told https://fchumberunited.co.uk:
“It has been another interesting period for the club since the final game of
last season. We knew we always had to find a permanent home and I am pleased to
finally be able to secure this for the club. Yes, we know, another name change,
but this time it has more substance and meaning behind it.
“We
are pleased to be working with a group of likeminded football people, they are
hard to come by these days in non-League football, however everyone involved at
Askern has done a fantastic job in creating 20 junior teams and now aligning a
senior team in Step 6 we can begin to create a long-term pathway for players to
aspire too and play at semi-professional level.
“Since
initial conversations started only a few weeks back we have built a strong
relationship and I am confident we can form an amazing working relationship
with everyone at Askern for the whole club to flourish in the coming years.
“We
have also been able to secure the future for the FC Humber United brand as this
will be based in Hull and compete in the East Riding Counties League and more
details on this will be released in the near future. We look forward to a long-term
partnership with everyone at Askern”. |
