Having
already recruited Mike Carter and Luke Hallett, the Stags have now brought in inspirational
defender Charlie Kennedy from Southern Premier Division South side Salisbury.
The
25-year-old, who has skippered virtually every team he has played in, had
joined the Whites in July 2020 from rivals Gosport Borough, where he had been
since May 2019 when he joined from Basingstoke Town.
He
joined Basingstoke from Barnet back in 2016 and was a massive player for the
Dragons.
AFC
Totton manager Jimmy Ball told his club’s website: “This lad is a proper
defender who eats rocks for breakfast. He’s going to bring lots and lots of
experience to this football club.
“He’s
only ever played at Step 3 and above prior to coming here. We had earmarked
Kennedy and Mike Carter as key signings coming into the close season, so to
have got the two of them over the line is very pleasing. With Luke Hallett also
joining and the quality we already have in the squad, I’m happy with the way
things are going – but there’s more work to do and, hopefully, a couple more
new players yet to come”.
