The
24-year-old had re-joined the Whites` former league rivals Wimborne Town in
January on loan from Vanarama National League neighbours Weymouth until the end
of the season but was unable to prevent the Magpies from being relegated to
Division One South.
Benfield
played just four times for Weymouth after joining from Salisbury in the summer
of 2020.
He
did not feature for the Terras at all last season, also going out on loan to
Dorchester Town where he played 16 times.
However,
Weymouth recalled him just before Christmas as cover for Ross Fitzsimons when
young understudy Harrison Bruton broke a finger.
Benfield
signed a new one-year contract with the Terras in the summer of 2021, having
originally joined the club in June 2020 from Salisbury.
He
had been with the Whites since May 2019 after arriving from Wimborne, where he
earned his reputation as one of the best keepers on the local circuit.
Benfield,
who hails from Poole, originally joined the Wimborne in July 2016 from then-Wessex
League Premier outfit Hamworthy United. |
