Dodd
spent the majority of the 2021/22 season with the Seagulls on loan from League
Two side Exeter City after joining in September 2021, scoring one goal and
assisting 8 in 40 appearances.
The
21-year-old made his first-team debut for the Grecians against West Ham United
under-21s in the Checkatrade.com Trophy in the 2018/19 season.
An
Exeter-based youngster, he had been with the academy since under-9s.
Dodd
signed a new one-year contract with Exeter in July 2021 after coming through
pre-season unscathed.
He
had been on a short-term deal during the pre-season campaign to allow manager Matt
Taylor to assess his readiness after Dodd aimed to recover from two serious ACL
injuries in close succession in the academy.
He
missed nearly two years with injury.
Manager
Scott Bartlett told his club’s website: “We are delighted to have James with us
full time.
“He
was excellent for us last season and is a very mature player for someone his
age.
“He
is a terrific footballer and a great lad”.
