FA Vase Winners Make Impressive New Signings
United Counties League Premier Division South club Newport Pagnell Town have made three impressive new signings to add to the majority of last season’s FA Vase-winning squad who have agreed to stay.

Experienced defender Russell Short has joined after being player-coach at now-Pitching In Southern League Division One Central side Biggleswade Town.

 

The 33-year-old re-joined Biggleswade in August 2020.

 

He returned for a third spell for the Waders having also been with Ipswich Town, Wivenhoe Town, Histon and Bury Town, where he spent five seasons, making almost 200 appearances.

 

He joined Biggleswade for the first time in 2013/14 before re-joining Bury.

 

A season with Hendon followed before he returned to Langford Road in 2016.

 

He left for St Neots Town and then Needham Market, for whom he played 28 times in 2019/10.

 

Another experienced recruit is 31-year-old forward Shane Bush, who arrives from Southern Premier Division Central side AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

 

Bush (pictured) joined Diamonds in February 2022 from then-league rivals Biggleswade Town.

 

He had signed for the Waders in August 2019 from Kempston Rovers, where he had returned for a third spell for the start of the 2018/19 season, having previously played for the club in the United Counties League.

 

He returned from Chesham United and previously turned out for Pitstone & Ivinghoe, Leighton Town and Dunstable Town.

 

Striker Albie Hall has also checked into Willen Road after a prolific 2021/22 season with           Spartan South Midlands League Division Two side Pitstone & Ivinghoe, where he scored 45 goals in 32 games.

 

Pagnell secured his signature amongst fierce competition from a host of clubs at Step 5 level.

 

He was previously with Winslow United and Leighton Town.
