And with Brazilian striker Felipe Barcelos, who joined the club in March 2022 from Highworth Town, AFC Portchester possess a terrific attacking line-up for Step 5 level.

Already firm favourites for the Wessex League title, the Fareham-based outfit have snapped up Brendan Ebireri.

The defender has previous Wessex League experience with the likes of Andover Town, Hythe & Dibden, Fareham Town and Bosham.

Central midfielder Ryan Wilkins arrives from league rivals Hamble Club, where he has been playing for the last four seasons, while midfielder Charlie Williamson is another new arrival.

His former clubs are Worthing, Bognor Regis Town, Pagham and Baffins Milton Rovers.

Another midfielder, James Cowan, also moves from rivals Baffins Milton Rovers where he was captain.

He was at the club as a 15-year-old and has gone on to play for Dundee, Oxford United, Airdrie as well as Baffins Milton Rovers.

Goalkeeper Jake Hallett, 24, joined rivals Moneyfields in July 2019 from Southern Premier Division South side Salisbury.

He had signed for the Whites in August 2018 after being highly recommended following his release by then-Championship side Norwich City.

He was raised in Southampton and recruited into the Saints academy ranks but ended up at Norwich where he signed a two-year professional deal in 2016.

Ahead of signing for Salisbury, he had trials with National League clubs Aldershot Town and Maidstone United.

Left-back Ashton Leigh (pictured), 26, moves from Southern Premier Division South neighbours Gosport Borough, where he had only been since March 2022.

He signed a permanent deal with Isthmian Premier side Bognor Regis Town in June 2019 after being on loan from Wessex Leaguers Baffins Milton Rovers.

The defender, whose ex-Rocks favourite dad Steve Leigh managed Milton Rovers, even managed to get his hands on silverware as the curtain came down on the season with a Sussex Senior Cup winner's medal.

He played an instrumental role as Bognor saw off the challenge from Burgess Hill Town with a 2-1 victory after extra-time at Brighton's Amex Stadium.

Another defender, Elliot Wheeler, also moves from Gosport.

The 28-year-old Isle of Wight-born defender had re-joined Gosport in June 2021.

He began his career across the Solent with Portsmouth before joining Stoke City and playing for their under-21s.

After a spell with Nuneaton Borough, he joined Gosport, then in the National League South, before joining Southern Premier South club Salisbury in February 2016.

His pace and positioning at the back impressed manager Steve Claridge enough to make him captain.
