He
cited personal reasons for this decision and his assistant Lee Taylor also left
the club.
However,
the Fenmen have moved swiftly to appoint a replacement in experienced striker
Leon Mettam (pictured), who was player/assistant manager of Pitching In Northern Premier
League Division One East side Frickley Athletic last season.
The
35-year-old, who still intends registering as a player, joined Frickley in the
summer of 2021.
He
had re-joined Worksop Town in June 2019 after their return to the NPL and was
then appointed as player-coach of Skegness Town in May 2020.
Originally
with Lincoln City, where he made 5 appearances, he went on to have spells with
Stamford, Corby Town and Gainsborough Trinity before joining the Tigers for the
first time in 2012.
And
in his final season, he notched over 50 goals as the club finished in the NPL
play-offs.
He
also played for the likes of Tamworth, King`s Lynn Town and Spalding United.
Mettam
has appointed former team-mate Danny Brooks as his player/assistant manager.
Midfielder
Brooks numbers Lincoln United, Eastwood Town, Stamford AFC, Grantham Town,
Spalding United, Hednesford Town, Lincoln Moorlands and Skegness Town amongst
his former clubs. |
