The 29-year-old had been in a player-coach role at Meadow Park after re-joining in the summer of 2021 from rivals Wealdstone.

Smith started out in the youth ranks at Mullingar Town in his native County Westmeath, Ireland.

From there he moved to Watford. In January 2016 he joined AFC Wimbledon, and the following season was part of Plymouth Argyle’s promotion squad to League One.

In 2017 he joined Yeovil Town and then had his first spell with Boreham Wood before signing for Billericay Town in January 2019.

In February 2019 he joined Kingstonian on loan for the rest of that season before moving to Wealdstone in May 2019.
