The 34-year-old came through the academy at Huddersfield Town and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Terriers, mainly in League One.

During his time with Huddersfield, he spent time on loan with the Shaymen in 2008, as well as spells with Bradford City and Leyton Orient.

Whilst with Huddersfield, he was also capped by England at both under-18 and under-19 level.

In 2013, he joined then-League One side Preston North End, and during his seven years at Deepdale, helped them gain promotion to the Championship, winning the play-offs in 2015.

He signed for Salford City in July 2020 and made 30 appearances in League Two for the Ammies as they finished in eighth place, narrowly missing out on the play-offs.

Following the conclusion of the 2020/21 season, he was released and went on to sign for Fleetwood Town in League One.

He made 35 appearances, helping the Cod Army to a 20th placed finish, only avoiding the drop on goal difference.
