Welsh Joins League Rivals

Bootle have signed defender Jacques Welsh from Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One West rivals Runcorn Linnets.

The 21-year-old had joined the Linnets in July 2020 from JD Cymru Premier side Flint Town United.

He was with League One side Bolton Wanderers before suffering an injury setback which he successfully overcame.

A composed centre-back who is comfortable on the ball, he signed professional forms with Tranmere Rovers and initially joined Flint midway through the 2017/18 season on a loan deal.

He subsequently re-joined Flint in August 2018, this time on a season-long loan deal, and then signed for the Welsh side on a permanent basis in July 2019 following his release from Prenton Park.

He made 32 appearances for Flint in 2019/20 before lockdown, scoring one goal.
