Brackley Move Swiftly to Appoint New Boss
Vanarama National League North club Brackley Town have moved swiftly to replace the long-serving Kevin Wilkin by appointing Roger Johnson as their new manager.

The 39-year-old takes his first senior managerial role, having previously bee with National League side Bromley, where he worked as their under-23 boss.

 

Johnson’s playing career saw him start with Wycombe Wanderers, moving to the Championship with Cardiff in 2006 and then onwards to the Premier League with Birmingham City in 2009, being an ever-present in two seasons for the Blues and helping them to win the EFL Cup in 2011.

 

He also spent time with Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic, Indian side Pune City and Bromley.

 

The move will see Johnson supported by his former Wolves team-mate Stephen Ward, with the 37-year-old former Ireland international confirmed as the Saints’ new assistant manager.
