Wrexham-born Butler, who can play at full-back and centre-back, moved south to join Swansea City in 2019 and represented them at under-18s and under-23 level before leaving in the summer.

The 19-year-old has been on trial with Wrexham and played three matches for the reserves, including captaining the team against Huddersfield last time out.

And Butler has now penned a permanent deal until the end of the season, with the option of a further year, to complete his return to North Wales.

Manager Phil Parkinson told https://www.wrexhamafc.co.uk: “Scott has played a couple of games in our reserve team and has done well. He’s a local lad and a good young player.

“We’re trying to strengthen that group – one, to make us even more competitive in that league; but also to do it with players that can progress with the Club, and Scott fits the bill”.
